WHAT ARE YOUR CORE DRIVES IN YOUR EVERYDAY WORK?
People – I look forward to working with people I can learn from everyday and who have the potential to be my champion in the future. I have always made career decisions based on people, because if you can build strong genuine relationships with your colleagues and clients, doors start opening for you.
Personal Development - As a consultant, I look at every project from the lens of personal development. I always feel driven by the need to develop my abilities further in any given field, which I is why I go above and beyond the scope of my client work to get to the core of every problem and this is often where I find innovative solutions.
Autonomy – I’ve always preferred being independent on my approach to work and I feel its important that I am able to make my own decisions in how I solve problems. I always seek projects where my senior managers and partners trust me to work autonomously.
WHAT KIND OF CHANGE WOULD YOU LIKE TO BRING YOUR LOCAL& GLOBAL/REGIONAL LEVEL?
Back in 2015 I founded Internships Albania, an NGO aimed at bridging the brain drain that Albania has suffered since the 90’s. Through this organization I worked directly with 11 government ministries to create 120 summer internships for Albanian Diaspora students based in 20 countries (from Russia to the States). Based on the success I experienced through Internships Albania, I truly believe in the power that young people have to make real meaningful impact, so the change I’d like to see on a global level is greater connectivity between students and young professionals.
WHAT INSPIRED YOU THE MOST ABOUT BEING A PART OF YAGE AND DURING THE YAGE EVENTS?
As part of promoting Internships Albania, I came to YAGE to connect with like minded young individuals to share our united vision. At the end of YAGE I had connected with people from 15 nationalities, all of which contributed with tangible ideas on how Internships Albania could be improved, as a result of which we had two consecutive years of success before ceasing operations in 2017.
WHICH USEFUL SKILLS DID YOU DEVELOP WHILE BEING INVOLVED IN YAGE?
Teamwork& Public Speaking
WHICH IDEA OF GREATER EUROPE DO YOU ENVISION IN THE FUTURE?
A connected, youth-driven Europe that challenges the problems of the future head-first. To me that means a Europe based on the principles of political, social and economic equity. A Europe that points towards technological progress and an increasing openness (not the reverse), while still protecting and respecting the unique identities of every country, religion and ethnicity
WHICH STRATEGIES COULD BE USED BY YOUNG PEOPLE TO INFLUENCE THE DECISION-MAKING IN INTERNATIONAL BODIES?
There are multiple strategies that influence international bodies in their decision making process (public opinion, economic conditions, technological change, interest groups, NGOs etc.)
Of these, I believe young people should not underestimate the power of NGOs as a key strategy in driving decision making bodies towards their agenda.
From my personal experience, this is because NGOs are easily accessible to young people and relatively easy to set up (today there are c.40k NGOs globally), while also having the power to shape public opinion.
ARE YOU IN CONTACT WITH OTHER ALUMNI?
Yes, we’ve managed to stay in contact with at least 4 of the Alumni on social media. Managed to meet in person with one of them in London, while regular staying in touch online with the others.
