WHAT ARE YOUR CORE DRIVES IN YOUR EVERYDAY WORK?
Opportunities for other people and me to interpersonally engage with one another at the international level drive me at work and make me believe that there is a plenty of spheres where successful cooperation is necessary and possible.
WHAT KIND OF CHANGE WOULD YOU LIKE TO BRING YOUR LOCAL& GLOBAL/REGIONAL LEVEL?
I believe that there is a need for a better understanding of other parties’ interests and actions. When achieved it will be easier to focus on shared interests and address common challenges.
WHAT INSPIRED YOU MOST ABOUT BEING A PART OF YAGE AND DURING THE YAGE EVENTS?
I was inspired by the openness of participants from other countries, their willingness to listen to other people’s opinions which created the atmosphere of the real Greater Europe without dividing lines.
WHICH USEFUL SKILLS DID YOU DEVELOP WHILE BEING INVOLVED IN YAGE?
I could practice my public speaking skills as well as negotiation skills. They underpinned my desire to engage in other international projects both as a participant and an organizer.
WHICH IDEA OF GREATER EUROPE DO YOU ENVISION IN THE FUTURE?
Even if it is illusionary to think that in the near future Europe will become a common space for European societies from Lisbon to Vladivostok, I do believe that at certain levels we will be moving closer to one another. We will see it, for instance, in an intensified cooperation and dialogue between the EU and the EAEU that may contribute to the transformation of the Greater Europe concept from fantasy to reality.
WHICH STRATEGIES COULD BE USED BY YOUNG PEOPLE TO INFLUENCE THE DECISION-MAKING IN INTERNATIONAL BODIES?
I think it is not something that may happen overnight, but rather a long process of youth’ recognition as an important actor. In fact, United Nations Security Council resolutions 2250 and 2419 stating the need to increase the youth’ participation in decision-making serve as a sign of recognition of the role young people can play. Further,in 2019 young people were granted delegates status at the 26th OSCE Ministerial Council meeting. This should be an example for other international organisations to provide room for young voices in their activities.
ARE YOU IN CONTACT WITH OTHER ALUMNI?
Yes, I am still in contact with some participants of the YAGE meeting 2017 as later we organized an international project “Greater Europe Theatre” in Paris that aimed to bring European societies together.
